Glass Cabinet Doors

A glass panel in place of wood turns an upper cabinet into display space. Single pane for a clean look, or divided with mullions — classic grids or decorative patterns — in any of our framed door styles.

What are glass cabinet doors?

A glass cabinet door keeps the framed construction of a regular five-piece door — two stiles and two rails — but swaps the wood center panel for a glass panel. The frame matches the door style used through the rest of your kitchen, so glass doors blend in seamlessly while opening up a view of what's inside.

They're most at home on upper cabinets: a pair of glass doors flanking a range hood or window breaks up a long run of solid doors and gives everyday dishes and glassware a place to show.

Glass panels come single pane or divided with mullions — the wood bars that split the glass into smaller lites, like a traditional window.

Every glass door we install is made to order for your kitchen — sized to your cabinets, in your choice of door style, wood species, and finish.

Single pane or mullions?

Single pane is the quieter choice — one uninterrupted sheet of glass inside the frame. It suits transitional and modern kitchens and puts the focus on what's displayed inside.

Mullion doors divide the glass with wood bars into multiple lites. A classic grid reads traditional — like a paned window — while decorative mullion patterns with curves and overlapping shapes turn a plain upper into a furniture-grade focal point.

Mullions are finished to match the door frame, so painted kitchens get painted mullions and stained kitchens get matching wood tones.

Ways to make it yours

Every glass door is made to order, so each of these choices is yours to mix and match.

Single Pane

One clean sheet of glass inside the frame — the simplest look, and the best backdrop for displaying dishes and glassware.

Mullion Patterns

Classic grids like four or six lites, or decorative patterns with curves and overlapping shapes for a custom focal point.

Door Style

Glass panels go into any of our framed door styles — shaker, chamfered, and more — so glass uppers match the rest of your kitchen.

Paint, Stain, or Natural

Frames and mullions are finished together — painted any color, stained, or clear-coated. See our cabinet painting and staining services.

Overlay or Inset

Glass doors follow your kitchen's mounting style — full overlay, partial overlay, or inset. See the overlay guide.

Mix with Solid Doors

Most kitchens use just a few glass uppers among solid doors — a popular upgrade during cabinet refacing.

Glass door questions

A glass cabinet door is a framed door with a glass panel in place of the wood center panel. The frame — the rails and stiles — matches the rest of your kitchen's door style, so glass doors blend right in while letting you display dishes, glassware, or collectibles inside.
Mullion cabinet doors are glass doors divided into multiple panes by wood bars called mullions. A classic grid — like a four-lite window pattern — is the most traditional look, and decorative mullion patterns with curves or overlapping shapes add a custom, furniture-like touch.
Glass doors are most popular on upper cabinets — a few glass uppers break up a long run of solid doors and give the kitchen a built-in display space. They're also a natural fit for hutches, china cabinets, and cabinets flanking a range hood or sink window.
Yes — mixing a few glass uppers into a cabinet refacing project is one of the most popular upgrades we do. Your cabinet boxes stay in place, and the new made-to-order doors can be any combination of solid and glass. Refacing typically runs $12,000–$22,000 depending on kitchen size.
Any of our framed five-piece door styles can be made with a glass center panel instead of wood — shaker, chamfered, and other frame profiles. Only fully flat slab doors have no frame to hold glass.
Both. Glass doors follow whatever mounting style the rest of your kitchen uses — full overlay, partial overlay, or inset (at a price premium). See our cabinet overlay guide for how each looks.
